The Department of Livestock Products Technology was established in the month of October, 2009 and is engaged in teaching, research and extension activities. At present, the Department of Livestock Products Technology, College of Veterinary Sciences & A.H., R. K. Nagar offers Under Graduate course as per the MSVE- 2016 guidelines. The department is engaged in disseminating knowledge about hygienic milk production, preparation of value-added milk products and utilization of milk by-products, processing of wool, hygienic slaughter and dressing of food animals, preparation of value-added meat products, utilization of slaughter house by- products to undergraduate students of the college. Besides teaching, the faculty of the department are also involved in various extension and training programmes organized by the Directorate of ARDD, Govt. of Tripura from time- to-time imparting hands-on-training to farmers, milk producers and livestock owners (both men and women) belonging to the self-help groups in areas of hygienic milk production, meat and milk processing, quality control and value addition of milk, meat and poultry. The department also offers entrepreneurship training to the intern students of the college in making value added milk, meat and poultry products.
