Salient features about the department :
The Department of Microbiology is actively involved in teaching of B.V.Sc & A.H. students as per VCI syllabus and also conducting training to the veterinary professionals in their skill development. The faculty members of this department are conducting need based research in different areas of Virology, Immunology, Bacteriology and Mycology. The extension activities of this department include training to the women folks and the needy farmers, engaged in animal husbandry activities.

- Seroprevalence and molecular characterization of contagious caprine ecthyma virus in the north eastern state of Tripura. (Cost: Rs. 23.20 lakhs – Date of sanction: 2014 – Funding agency:Department of Science and Technology ,DST, GOI).
- Molecular Characterization and Exploration of Rumen microbial diversity in Black Bengal goat at North Eastern State of Tripura. (Cost: Rs. 47.19 lakhs – Date of sanction: 2014 – Funding agency:Indian Council of Agricultural Research, ICAR,GOI).
- Establishment of modern disease diagnosis laboratory for diagnosis of infectious diseases of livestock and poultry at Department of Veterinary Microbiology, C.V.Sc. & A.H., R. K. Nagar, Agartala, Tripura (W). (Cost: 58.0 Lakhs-Date of sanction: 2021- Funding Agency: Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, GoI.).
- Molecular epidemiology, pathology and antibiogram of Riemerella anatipestifar of ducks in Tripura. Sponsored by SERB-DST (Co- PI Dr. Aparajita Das) (Cost: 53,52709/-,Date of sanction: 2021-duration 3 years, ongoing).
