Salient features about the department:

The Department is engaged in UG teaching to impart the knowledge about the basic statistics,  and key information about the statistical tools to design any experiments, the concepts of computer application and different software like SPSS, Macstat, Acastat, SAS etc. Understanding of the animal genetics starting from classical Mendelian genetics, its deviation, chromosome structure and anomalies with recombinant DNA technology along with the population genetics which enables them to learn about the properties of the breeding population.

Research activity:

1.  Department has taken up a project on “Characterization of Indigenous cattle of Tripura” funded by Tripura Livestock Development Agency (TLDA), Agartala, West Tripura. The project is under RGM (Rashtriya Gokul Mission) Project as per the guidelines of Govt. of India. The cost of the project is 66 Lakhs.
