Salient features about the department :
The major activity of the department is teaching and training in the fields of veterinary public health and epidemiology. The department was established in 2011 and recognized as per VCI guidelines. Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology is an important component of veterinary sciences to build excellence in education and hands-on training at undergraduate levels in the areas of milk hygiene, meat hygiene, food safety, zoonoses, epidemiology, and environmental hygiene. The subject contributes to the improvement of public health by improving food hygiene and food safety, preventing and addressing zoonotic diseases, enhancing environmental and ecosystem health. The department has well-established in molecular biology as well as bacteriology laboratories. The research carried out in the department is disseminated to users and farmers as a part of extension activities, and the recommendations made have yielded valuable results in the control of zoonotic diseases and the betterment of human health.
